The treatment modalities available include:
Prescription Medications for Acne. Prescription medications, including topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, antiandrogens, oral isotretinoin, and other prescription medications may be part of your acne treatment regimen, always prescribed and managed by a dermatologist.
Acne Surgery. In acne surgery, your skin is steamed for 10-15 minutes to open the pores and then your acne lesions are gently opened with a comedone extractor. Persistent lesions may require lancing. High frequency, light cryotherapy, and the application of appropriate topical treatments and masks may be part of the treatment, all conducted in our beautiful and spa-like office.
Injections for Acne. Injections of small amounts of steroid into persistent inflammatory acne lesions can resolve them quickly. This is useful on an ongoing basis. Also perfect a few days before an important event!
Laser and Light Treatment For Acne. Laser light may be used alone, or in conjunction with a topical medication (termed photodynamic therapy), when required for your acne. Lasers may also be used to treat acne scarring.
Treatment of Post-Acne Hyperpigmentation. Often it is the dark marks left behind by acne that are the problem, long after the acne has passed. Treatment of this post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is complex and challenging, especially in darker skin. A combination of chemical peels, bleaching creams, and sometimes laser treatments are employed to reduce this troubling problem.
Treatment of Acne Scarring. Acne scarring is a challenging and distressing problem. Multiple modalities are employed to improve acne scars, including lasers, chemical peels, subcision, photodynamic therapy, and fillers.
